The Santa Barbara City Council has set ambitious goals like reaching carbon neutrality by 2035 through the City's Climate Action Plan, conserving our water, protecting our natural resources, and expanding options for walking, biking, and other active ways to get around.
To help reach these goals, the City established a dedicated Sustainability & Resilience Department that leads efforts to protect our environment, prepare for climate impacts, and support the community. In addition, departments across the City offer programs that invite and empower community members to take part in building a more sustainable Santa Barbara.
