Creeks Division

The mission of the Creeks Restoration and Water Quality Improvement Division is to improve creek and ocean water quality and restore natural creek systems through storm water and urban runoff pollution reduction, creek restoration, and community education programs.

About the Creeks Division

In November 2000, the City of Santa Barbara’s voters approved Measure B, an increase in the transient occupancy tax rate from 10% to 12% with proceeds from the 2% tax increase restricted to use in the Creeks Restoration and Water Quality Improvement Division. In January 2001 the Creeks Division was established as part of the Parks and Recreation Department. A volunteer Creeks Advisory Committee was also created to help guide the Division's projects and programs. In January 2023, the Creeks Division was moved to the City's Sustainability & Resilience Department.
