Body

On December 11, the Sustainability & Resilience Department's Creeks Division celebrated the completion of the Mission Creek Restoration Project at Oak Park. This effort has transformed the creek back to its natural state by removing concrete structures from the creek bed, restoring hardened creek banks, and creating floodplain habitats.

The restoration project revitalized a section of Mission Creek, enhancing its natural beauty and ecological health. It also created thriving habitats for wildlife, improved local water quality, and provided a space for the community to enjoy and connect with nature. Enhancements include the removal of invasive plant species, restoration of the creek channel, and the installation of over 3,000 native plants and trees.

The total project construction cost was $814,231, and was funded by hotel visitors through Measure B.
