Thursday, October 23 is Heat Pump Water Heater Day, dedicated to raising awareness of the benefits of heat pump water heaters (HPWHs). HPWHs are 3–4 times more efficient than traditional gas water heaters and switching can reduce your home’s carbon footprint by up to 50%. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your home, now is the perfect time. Santa Barbara Clean Energy (SBCE) encourages homeowners to take advantage of federal Home Energy Tax Credits, expiring December 31, 2025. In addition to federal incentives, residential SBCE customers can save even more with up to $3,500 for replacing a traditional gas or electric resistance water heater, up to $4,000 for associated electrical work, and fast and free City permitting.
