Honda Valley Creek Restoration Project
The Creeks Division completed a restoration of Arroyo Honda at Honda Valley Park in 2021. The project included removal of approximately 1,000 square feet of asphalt from the creek bed, removal of over 650 linear feet of chain link fence, and removal of invasive plant species, including cape ivy and ice plant, from 130,000 square feet of ground in the riparian and upland areas.
Over 2,500 native trees and riparian plants were installed in the riparian areas with temporary irrigation to support establishment. The restoration site will be managed in a way that supports the growth characteristics of native trees and other plants to ensure long term viability of the existing riparian community.
