Eastside Library EV Charger Project

The Project will kick-off January 12, 2026, and take 3-4 months to complete. Work will take place weekdays between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

About half of the parking spots in the Library lot will be closed for approximately six weeks for construction and staging. 

Parking on the west side of Voluntario Street between Yanonali Street and Neil Park Avenue will be impacted periodically during construction for placement of a new power pole. Notice will be posted at least three days in advance of any closures.

Two 400 kW dual port SK Signet DC Fast chargers are being installed (four charging ports total). They feature the latest power-sharing technology, offering a combined 600 kW of output and up to 400 kW per port, capable of charging an EV in under 10 minutes! 

The chargers will have standard CCS-1 heads for each of the four charging ports; with an adapter, these chargers can also serve and CHAdeMO or NACS vehicles. The chargers will use the DirtRoad Network, who has an agreement to operate most of the City’s current chargers.

Once fully installed and commissioned (anticipated in April 2025), the chargers will be open to the public to use 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However the parking lot will remain closed to all other uses after Library open hours. Vehicles not actively charging or using the parking lot for non-authorized use will be subject to fine and towing. 

Because the chargers are located in a residential neighborhood, signage will be installed encouraging nighttime users to be respectful by keeping noise levels down.

Charging fees will be the same as the other public chargers the City hosts, which varies depending on the time of day and season corresponding to the price of electricity. Rates have been negotiated to be at or below industry average.
