MarBorg Holiday Service Delays

Due to the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays, there will be a one-day delay in residential trash and recycling service following each holiday. If your regularly scheduled service day is Thursday, MarBorg will service your carts on Friday, and so on through Saturday. Regular service will occur Monday - Wednesday, December 22 - 24, and Monday - Wednesday, December 29 - 31. Regular service will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Please contact MarBorg at (805) 963-1852 for questions about your specific pickup schedule.

Extra Holiday Waste Pickups

For two weeks following Christmas Day, MarBorg will collect extra waste from residential City of Santa Barbara customers at no extra charge. Customers can put out up to 96 gallons of extra trash (gray cart), recyclables (blue cart), or yard waste (green cart). Leave extra bags or bundles at your normal pickup location; no bulky waste allowed.

If there are excessive amounts of extra waste, please call MarBorg at (805) 963-1852 to accommodate the special pickup.

Battery Recycling Made Easy!

Household batteries should NOT be placed in your trash or recycling where they pose a fire risk and can lead to environmental damage. MarBorg makes it easy for City of Santa Barbara customers to properly dispose of household batteries (9V or less) by placing them in a clear zip top bag on top of your recycling cart on your normal service day.

Post-Holiday Christmas Tree Disposal

From December 26 through the second Saturday in January, MarBorg will collect trees from residential City of Santa Barbara customers.

  • Strip the tree of ornaments, garlands, and tinsel. MarBorg does not take flocked trees (unless you can remove the flocking).
  • Remove the tree stand.
  • Place the whole tree out with your waste carts.
  • If the tree is taller than 6 feet, please cut it in half.

Trees can also be dropped off for free at the South Coast Recycling & Transfer Station through January 17.
